Becca in Texas: Navy Ball 2008!!

The Navy Ball was awesome!!! I had a fantastic time!! Eric picked me up around 2:30 and we headed up to the Hilton in Lihue. The Ball didn't start till 5pm but Eric had to be there early because he is on the Honor Guard and had to rehearse for the Flag Ceremony. After he rehearsed we walked around the Hilton for a little bit and then went back into the Ball Room when the Ball started at 5. The first hour was just a social hour and picture time. They had a professional photographer there, we got our picture taken, I don't have it yet though. The Ball started at 6pm and started off with Eric, Josh (a picture of him is down in my pictures somewhere), and Jessica doing the Flag Ceremony. Then they did some other announcements and traditional things. Then a speaker talked for like 45 minutes, that part was kind of boring. Afterwards they had a dinner and everyone ate and had a good time. After dinner was the fun stuff!! Dance Party What!!! Yep, we danced from about 8:30-Midnight. Good times!!! After we danced the night away we headed down to the Beach to hang out for a while. We hung out there until about 1:30 and then a few of us decided we were hungry so we went to Oki Diner! I finally was home and in bed going to sleep about 4am. It was a long long awesome day!!!

It was such an awesome experience! I met some awesome people and hung out with a lot of important Navy people. It was fun dancing around and goofing off with people like the Executive Officer and several other officers. Eric and I were the last ones to leave along with a few Officers and their wives and the CO and his wife Laurie. At the beach party it was a small group of people just hanging out. I liked it because it wasn't this huge party with all of the people who went to the Navy Ball. It was pretty much the same people who left the Ball with us plus a few others. It was nice to hang out with people other than my regular group. Oh, and I met Eric's friends Josh and April. They are married with two kiddos. April is awesome! I really enjoyed hanging out with them, they were good fun people! Anywho, there was not a moment about the night that I did not enjoy! It took me about an hour to loosen up and get out on the dance floor. I was pretty shy at first, but April pulled me out there and made me dance, which I am very thankful for. I would have been mad at myself if I had not danced. We did a Conga Line! Jessica started a Conga line and pretty much everyone there hopped in and danced around the Ball Room. It was so awesome!! Man, I had a fantastic time!!!
