Everyone in Denton at some point or another should have visited Eureka Playground at Southlakes Park. It is an awesome playground. They brought in this specialist guy, Robert Leathers. He worked with the community and designed and built Eureka Playground. It is quite a place actually, huge! Completely built by volunteers! The design of this playground is unique only to Robert Leathers and there are not very many in the world... So all that to say, Denton has a VERY unique playground. Pretty much a one of a kind!
Today we went on a field trip to Lydgate Park. Guess what I saw?!?!?! Another Robert Leathers design!! I walked up and when I saw it I just was overwhelmed with happiness. I knew right away that it was designed by the same guy. I asked Genevieve if she knew anything about the playground and she said that some guy came in and worked with the community and they all built it together. Just like Denton!!!! I told her about how we have a playground just like it back home, except ours is much bigger. I mean the design itself is different, but Robert Leathers has very distinctive parts of his designs that he uses every time. The wooden castle like structure. The rock art in the seats. The engravings on the walls. It was so much alike, yet so different!
I came home and looked it up to make sure it was built by the same guy and sure enough!! It was like being back home in Denton for a little while. Now if I get homesick I am just going to go up to Lydgate Park and read or something. It really made me happy just to see a little bit of home all the way in Kauai!
