He's gone...

Adam is gone. Sadness has entered the Peck House... I'm pretty sure we all shed a few tears this evening. Poor kids, they miss him so much already.

Driving to the airport was horrible. I was already upset because he was leaving, but then... We are leaving base to go to the airport. I pass through the gate and my car breaks down... It wouldn't start. The MWR van broke! I just started crying, I was so upset with the combination of everything that was happening. Bruce had to come help us push the van out of the street and then drive us back to the house and then we drove the Peck's van to the airport. It was awful! I was so upset, I am still upset. However, I told myself I would no longer cry. No crying. I will be totally fine.

The past two weeks have been awesome! I guess it is about time I update with what actually went down...

Monday the 10th Adam got here. We had dinner and came to base.

Tuesday the 11th we went and hiked the Kukui Trail in Waimea Canyon. It was SO hard! It was only a 6 mile hike but it was a 2000 foot elevation drop hike down and then you had to hike it back up... We also got lost and had to hike all the way back down to the bottom to find the trail again and start over, it was awful! I hated that hike so much! I mean it was pretty and all, but when you reach that point of where you are in constant pain it just isn't fun anymore... Then Terisa came home from Colorado and we all went to a fundraiser for Zach's football team.

Wednesday the 12th we all just hung out around base at the Peck's house and the beach.

Thursday the 13th Adam spent the entire day with Kathy because I had to work all day, it was very funny. He had a good time though, that's all that matters!

Friday the 14th we had a bonfire! Several families from the neighborhood came up to the Berm and we had a fire and Adam played the guitar. It was so much fun. The girls, Daria and Alissa, wrote a song for Adam. It was so very cute, I have it on video. I'll figure out how to upload it to the Internet so everyone can see. It was just so dang cute. Ah, this day was AMAZING!!

Saturday the 15th was Terisa's 40th Birthday! It was a wonderful day too! We started it off by going to Zach's football game, very fun! Then we headed out to Brick Oven Pizza and had a great time with food and friends. Then Terisa's friend came in from Oahu and spent the night with us at the Peck's. We came back to base after Brick Oven Pizza and hung around the beach for a while. Then we goofed around the house for a few hours. Dancing, singing, cake, just plain silliness. I taught everyone how to do the Soulja Boy, very funny stuff! After learning the Soulja Boy we went up to the outdoor theater on base and watched Mamma Mia in the rain. It was pouring the whole time but we sat there and watched it. There were also many times during the movie where Terisa, Kathy, Kristin and myself got up and danced around singing the songs very loudly... Good times! After that it was bedtime!

Sunday the 16th was a relaxing day. We just bummed around base and had another great day. I learned how to surf! Adam taught me!!! Kristin took pictures, I'll have to get them from her at some point before I leave. I need to tell Terisa to call her so I can get those... Hmm.

The bummer about the first week Adam was here is that I had to work, so we didn't really get to do a whole lot except chill around base and hang with the Peck's and Capuano's. The second week he was here though I had off, so we went on many adventures!!

Monday the 17th we hiked the Kalalau Trail. It was raining the entire time! It rained ALOT while he was here... It put quite a damper on things... We only were able to do the first 2 miles of the hike because of the rain. It had been raining SO much that the river flooded and no one could cross. There were people trapped on the other side who couldn't get back across to exit the trail. Several people had to be helicoptered out on Monday, it was crazy! After hiking Kalalau we went and hiked out to Queen's Bath, which was SO different from the first time I went. The water is so high now, I couldn't believe how much it had changed since September. It was just crazy! We hiked out and headed back to base and just chilled with the Peckauanos (that is what the Peck's and Capuano's are referred to as..).

Tuesday the 18th Adam and I did a waterfall hike tour. First we headed up to Opaeka'a Falls and hiked down to the bottom. Adam swam around a bit and then we hiked back out. Then we headed out to Wailua Falls, however it had been raining way too much to hike to the bottom of Wailua. Last we went to Kipu Falls... Kipu Falls is a recreational waterfall and is the safest waterfall to go to. It has a short cliff, maybe 35 feet. People jump off of it all the time, it also has a rope swing too. It is normally a very fun place. Well... Since it had been raining so much the water was very very high. The river was raging... We jumped off of the cliff on one side and swam across the bottom to get to the other side and climbed up the ladder. However, we had to cross the river to get back to the exit... While attempting to cross the river the current was so strong that it knocked me down and I was headed toward the edge of the waterfall. Some guy grabbed me and pulled me out before I went over. My heart was pounding and I was so freaked out. I was just shaking for a good 30 minutes after. If that guy hadn't grabbed me and helped me out I would have gotten hurt really really bad, if not killed. It was very freaky. I shouldn't have attempted to cross the river, but I couldn't find another way back. Man, I'll never ever cross a river again, EVER! After the Kipu accident I wanted to go home, so we went back to base and hung out with the Peckauano's.

Wednesday the 19th we went out to Po'ipu and went snorkeling. It was very fun, we saw lots of cool fish! Then we headed out to shipwrecks beach and Adam jumped off of shipwrecks cliff, crazy yes! I never would have done that, especially after the day I had before... He jumped though and he made it out okay, thank goodness! After he risked his life to jump off a cliff into the freaking ocean we went to a hidden beach past Po'ipu. We hiked around and I showed him so pretty cool places. I love the hidden beach, it was so peaceful and quiet. We were the only ones around. Man, that place was awesome! After that it was back to base for some Peckauano time! Also on this day we ran into an issue with the Base. A problem occurred and they wouldn't let Adam stay at the VQ anymore, so he had to move in with us over at the Peck's. It was very nice of the Peck's to let him stay with us. However, it made it harder on everyone because we all got more attached with him living here...

Thursday the 20th we went to a thrift store in Hanapepe and got some cool shirts. Then we spent a few hours out at Polihale. Then back to base for an evening with the Peckauano's.

Friday the 21st it rained all day long... We just stayed on base and chilled out. I don't think we did a single thing that day except goof off around the house, it was very relaxing.

Saturday the 22nd I had an event with work. So Adam volunteered and came out to help, it was very fun. Then we just chilled out with the Peckauanos.

Sunday the 23rd Adam and Brenda went Kayaking, I didn't feel well so I didn't go. I ran errands around Kapa'a and Lihue while they were out. Then I picked them up when they were done and we went back to base to hang out with the Peckauano's.

Monday the 24th was a sad sad day.... Adam and I hung out together during the day until the kids got home from school. Then we helped them with homework and headed down to the beach. Then we went to an event on base, Turkey Bowling. Very fun! Then it was time for Bruce's birthday part, the big 44! After that it was time for Adam to say goodbye to everyone and me to take him to the airport. I can not express how sad it was when he said goodbye to everyone. Daria just cried, Zach went and sat in the chair and was upset, Hunter cried. I cried, Terisa was upset. It was just a very sad evening. After the van broke down and Bruce brought us back to the house so we could switch cars he was like, Adam you can't go back in the house, I don't think my kids could handle seeing you again right now. It was so sad. They were all still inside crying. Ah, today has been a sad yet good day.

Now Adam is gone and I must go to bed. I am really tired and could use a good nights rest. I hope I get that... I'll put pictures up later from his time here. I've got some good ones. Geeze, I miss that crazy guy already! Goodnight, I'm going to bed...
